Picture this: You’re in the middle of the Arctic Ocean, surrounded by nothing but icebergs and the relentless roar of the wind. It’s a place where Mother Nature shows her might, and where only the toughest, most advanced vessels dare to venture. Enter the Bourbon Arctic and Horizon Arctic, the dynamic duo of the deep, ready to take on anything the Arctic throws their way!

First up, let me introduce you to the Bourbon Arctic—a vessel so mighty, it could practically pull an iceberg out of the water! This isn’t just any ordinary ship; it’s an Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) Vessel, but saying that almost feels like an understatement. Built in 2016, the Bourbon Arctic is like the heavyweight champion of the seas, boasting a staggering 307 metric tons of bollard pull. For those of us who aren’t maritime engineers, that’s like having the strength of nearly 1,000 elephants at your command, ready to tow, pull, and handle the biggest anchors you can imagine.

But what makes the Bourbon Arctic truly stand out is its ability to brave the harshest Arctic conditions. When the temperature plummets and the seas turn to ice, this vessel doesn’t flinch. It’s designed specifically for this—cutting through ice-covered waters with ease, while maintaining pinpoint accuracy thanks to its advanced dynamic positioning system. Imagine trying to park a car on a sheet of ice during a blizzard—now multiply that challenge by a thousand, and you’ve got a glimpse of what this ship can do. And while the Bourbon Arctic is out there wrestling with the elements, it’s also providing shelter and comfort for up to 60 crew members. It’s a floating fortress, a bastion of safety in one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth.

But wait—our Arctic adventure doesn’t stop there! Next, we have the Horizon Arctic—a vessel that takes versatility to a whole new level. Built in the same year as its sibling, 2016, the Horizon Arctic isn’t just another ship; it’s a Multipurpose Offshore Vessel (MPSV), a Swiss Army knife of the seas, ready to tackle whatever mission is thrown its way. Whether it’s subsea construction, inspection, maintenance, or repair operations, the Horizon Arctic is equipped to handle it all, and then some.

What truly sets the Horizon Arctic apart is its DP3 dynamic positioning system. Now, if you thought the DP2 on the Bourbon Arctic was impressive, the DP3 takes things up a notch. This system allows the vessel to hold its position with laser-like precision, even in the face of the most turbulent waters. It’s like having a ship that can dance on the waves, pirouetting gracefully amidst the chaos of the ocean. And with a deck area big enough to host a small fleet, heavy-lift cranes that could move mountains, and accommodation for up to 120 personnel, the Horizon Arctic is a true powerhouse of the Arctic seas.

These two vessels—Bourbon Arctic and Horizon Arctic—aren’t just tools of the trade; they’re the unsung heroes of the offshore industry. They’re out there every day, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, exploring the furthest reaches of our planet, and ensuring that the work we do in these remote regions is not only possible but also safe and efficient.

Imagine being on board one of these vessels, standing on the deck as it slices through the frigid Arctic waters, knowing that you’re part of something bigger—something that’s helping to fuel the world, to explore the unknown, and to keep the flame of human curiosity burning bright. These ships aren’t just about brute strength; they’re about innovation, precision, and a relentless spirit of adventure.

So, next time you think of the Arctic, don’t just picture snow and ice. Picture the Bourbon Arctic and Horizon Arctic—two titans of the seas, conquering the frozen frontiers and showing us all what it means to truly brave the unknown. These are the vessels that are writing the next chapter in the story of human exploration, and what a thrilling story it is!

Assembly İnstructions.

This project is a lot of fun but requires an advanced assembly of 136 separate parts. Due to the size of the largest part, a 3d printer with a 25×25 cm printbed is necessary to obtain a boat model with1 meter in final lenght. Scaled down models can be printed with smaller printers. You can study the parts’ placement according to their file names with the images below. You can start building from the keel upwards, one level at a time. The bottom and first level (hull level 1) also has longitidunal holes at the sides of hull joints for placing bolts and nuts that will hold the parts together in a straight line while the glue sets. You can leave the bolts’n nuts in place for added strength or remove them as you please.
