Another issue with the SS United States is that it’s not exactly the most eco-friendly mode of transportation. The ship was designed to burn tons of marine diesel in order to power its engines. And while that might have been acceptable back in the 1950s, it’s definitely not acceptable now. We live in a world where people are more environmentally conscious than ever before, and a ship that spews out pollutants is not going to be very popular.
But perhaps the biggest problem with the SS United States is that it’s just not very fun. Sure, it might have been a blast to sail on the ship back in the day, but these days, it’s just kind of boring. There’s no Wi-Fi, no streaming services, and no fancy restaurants. Instead, you’re stuck with a bunch of old people playing shuffleboard and complaining about the good old days.
